Lab 8 Reflection

-
During this lab the main goal was to create flash talk movie about one of the topics that we researched about.  A flash talk movie is a brief speech or presentation, intended to grab the attention of the audience and convey key information in a quick, insightful, and clear manner. The point of this flash talk was to describe in 2 minutes  the importance of the Internet and the effects on people and society. The three main topics given to choose from were Net Neutrality, Internet Censorship, Advanced option: Protocol Vulnerabilities and/or hacks. The topic I chose to talk about in this video was Net Neutrality. Net Neutrality is “Net neutrality is the principle that Internet service providers treat all data on the Internet equally, and not discriminate or charge differently by user, content, website, platform, application, type of attached equipment, or method of communication” (Wikipedia). This means that we as consumers of the Internet we are to surf freely among the web without any charges of the things we do. The first step of completing this lab to first write out a script of what we were going to say about the topic. I chose to support Net Neutrality because the internet should be free and open to all users. After this step of creating the script, we then moved on to recording ourselves reading the script and explaining our topics. Doing this allowed for more tone, enthusiasm and more appealing than just reading a blog about it. After the video was made I chose to edit it to add more flare using I movies and exported it as a .mp4 extension file so that way Dreamweaver can read it. With this I created a regular HTML document and inserted the file using the <source> tag. Then on top I included the headings of the page using the <h> tags. All of this was combined as a flash talk web page about Net Neutrality. This is very useful for a web designer because if they want to get a message across on their website or trying to explain something instead of writing it all out, created a quick flash talk will be a better way to explain what their talking about and will appeal to more readers of the website.

Lab 7 was the most difficult labs their was to code. This lab involved designing and coding. The main part of the lab was to link our web pages to one where you just click lab1-lab7 without having to go back and forth. We first did this by duplicating our folders of lab1-lab6 and copying them into lab 7. This was because we needed the files to be copied into the lab 7 directory to ensure the links wouldn't change when we create our web page. Once all files are in we have to create a index.html in lab 7 because this was the homepage and how the website would read it as index.html. After this part we had to go back into Photoshop to design our images to click for each lab. After this is created we head back into Dreamweaver to start coding the index all together. We first start by putting our heading banner which we learned in the previous lab. Then we inserted all 6 lab images using the <img> tag. An example was: <img src="Images/lab1.png" alt="Lab1" cla...

" Minority and dissident communities face a perplexing challenge in countries with authoritarian governments. They need to remain anonymous to avoid persecution, but also must establish a trustworthy identity in their communications." Computer science and researchers traveled to three countries to help assess their challenges of maintaining a secure social media presence. They designed an app for android that would create a safeguard for the members for their anonymity and reliability of posts. The three countries were Mongolia, Zambia, and Turkey. These countries suffer from restricted speech, like Russia and China.  " The problem with anonymous communication is you don't know if it's credible," said Miriam Metzger.  This is where the app SecurePost comes into play because it allows the community to create secure groups on famous media, like Facebook, to maintain consistent presence on social media. The app allows total anonymity and flags any potential pos...
