Lab 10

During lab 10 we had to create a copy of lab 9 favicon for our website.  A favicon is a a small image that is paired up with a website and appears on the side of the tab. A. For lab 10 we had to create an External CSS by creating an external stylesheet. We opened up a new CSS document in DreamWeaver that allowed us only to code using CSS tags and styles. I pasted the same styles from lab 9 into the StyleSheet. With this we then started writing the styles of each element, so that way we can edit them in the stylesheet. External  CSS works differently than the inline styles and Internal CSS because both of these would be inside the  HTML Document either inline or using the style tag, but the External CSS is a stylesheet that gets linked in the <head> tag. Once you create a style in CSS there is a selector for the elements. For example you can select the body and edit it as a whole by writing in the Styles Body {}. This selects everything in the body and will style it. As well as selection ID's or Classes from the HTML code. CSS is very important for describing a presentation of a website by implementing colors, fonts and layout. In order to link this External StyleSheet into our webpage we had to use the code:
<link rel = "stylesheet"
   type = "text/css"
   href = "myStyle.css" />.  This code took our stylesheet and linked it with the HTML code and had the same layout as lab 9. As  a web designer learning to use CSS is very important because it makes life more easier when designing the page layout. It allows you to edit specific of general elements without having to repeat the same style code over and over again inline. What I have learned from this lab was using External CSS is much more simpler and a more efficient way to design my web page and layout. Also using an external CSS will create less cluster in my HTML document and allow for more space of coding instead of also using styles in my document. This skill will be really helpful in the future when creating multiple web pages, you will be able to design it much faster.
