Create task

The Create Pt was a creative program creating portion of the AP exam. For the create task we had to test our skills in coding, designing and programming. You were allowed to work in groups and share ideas with others. The first step in the exam was to come up with a plan and the idea you will be working in. We were given around 8 hour class time but also allowed to work on it at home. My game idea was Snake-Chase. The point of the game was to go around collecting "fruits" while being chased by enemies who would kill you but also steal your fruit.  Then after we came up with the idea at SAP, we assigned jobs for each other to make this game go by quick. First i was given the job of art and design for the game while the rest coded their part. We would take turns adding code into the game because most of it had to be individual. I started off coding how the player would move and creating functions that allowed to player to move using the arrow keys. Then i added another part of the code that allowed the fruit to spawn and interact with the player. The Create Task comes down to time management and design thinking. One major problem my group and I had was the time management of who was coding and where it would and how it would work. We then decided to story board the rest of the game and write down on paper who's part did what and how it worked to create less of a confusion. Each time you played it would save your highest score and let you shop for different colors. The point of the game was to create an endless fun interactive game for the user. Part of the create task was creating a video portion showing the game worked and the point of it. The programming language my team and I used to create our program was Javascript. The purpose for producing this program was to create an endless fun but intense customizable game that would interact with the user by giving the user an objective that she or he  must complete to reach the highest possible score. The video also demonstrates the functions of the interactive elements of the game, for example the shops and the color picker. There were many difficulties throughout the whole Create task. One of them was i first created an onEvent function that would move the player 10 pixels in any direction when key was pressed. This code brought a problem because it would only move the player 10 pixels in a fixed location but then I fixed it by creating a global variable to x and y and it allowed you to move freely about the screen. It was a really fun and interesting task seeing everyone collaborate as a group and being able to discuss ideas as if were an actual game company. The create task had then to be uploaded to college board and submitted for the AP exam.
