Project 2 Favoirte teacher

Image
For project #2 the overall gist was to create a website dedicated to one of our favorite teachers. This  project was decently fun since we had to interview our teachers and create a website dedicated to them. In this website you had to include the copyrights, the subject they teach and what that subject is about, a bio page about them and the interview questions and finally trivia which was fun facts about that teacher.  I've chosen my brother in honor to be part of my favorite teacher project for my Web Design class. For this project I was instructed to choose one of my favorite teachers and create a web page in accolade of you. I chose you because you've taught me lessons no other teacher has. You've shown a great level of dedication to your craft and have always kept pushing me to be a better version of myself. To live with an actual teacher has exposed how much time and effort it really takes to create each lesson and the struggle it is to keep your kids at the highes...

Portfolio Project

Image
For our final Junior Year Digital Design project, we had to combine all of our labs, projects, blog site and the tech teach site all in one website. For my final portfolio I decided to go with a different layout and create my menu bar on the left side of my site. I also added a GIF that I colored over to have some sort of visual than just a static photo. Then i coded in the title of the site and added a fade in to it, so it doesn't just appear right away as you load into it. After this I started to code the labs web page and made sure the menu bar was still available. Each page can visit each other. I used the same css code for the background to keep my labs and projects page looking the same. Next the annoying part of this project was having to link all the labs and project into the website.  After this I added more css to make each lab separate from each other and kept the hover. This is very important for  Web Designer because knowing how to use external css on multiple w...

LAB 18

Image
During lab 18 we started creating a new html document in Dreamweaver. After this I began creating my heading using the <h>tags.  I put my heading in a <div> tag and using css I designed it using colors, fonts, font-size, etc. The point of lab 18 was to create a calculator on the web using arithmetic operators as buttons such as addition, subtraction, division and multiplication. In the lab there had to be two input boxes; one for the first number and one  for the second number. Then after this i created 4 buttons for the arithmetic operations.  I gave each number in the box specific id's that were attached to them to make it easier to retrieve the number values. After this i moved onto creating the 4 buttons for my operations. Doing this i used the <button></button> tag to make it work. After that i gave each button a specific id to what it will do. Once this was done i began to move into Javascript  and set up an onClick function for each o...

Lab 19

Image
During lab 19 which was very similar to lab 18 we had to create another calculator but it already had the first initial number value saved. The point of lab 19 was to give the initial value why the user added in the second value. In the site there was similar arithmetic buttons from lab 18 that allowed the user to interact with the initial value and add their own value to do some simple math. I first copied the first few codes from lab 18 because they both were very similar but in lab 18 the user would have to give two values not one and in lab 19 there was already an initial number. The initial number I kept was the number 5. So then I deleted the values for the first number and the input box and just left my initial number. Then usign the same form code for the second value;<form> <br> <label>Second Number:</label> <input type="text" id="secondNumber"> </form>.  Then after this i proceeded to code the rest of the javascript so t...

Create task

Image
The Create Pt was a creative program creating portion of the AP exam. For the create task we had to test our skills in coding, designing and programming. You were allowed to work in groups and share ideas with others. The first step in the exam was to come up with a plan and the idea you will be working in. We were given around 8 hour class time but also allowed to work on it at home. My game idea was Snake-Chase. The point of the game was to go around collecting "fruits" while being chased by enemies who would kill you but also steal your fruit.  Then after we came up with the idea at SAP, we assigned jobs for each other to make this game go by quick. First i was given the job of art and design for the game while the rest coded their part. We would take turns adding code into the game because most of it had to be individual. I started off coding how the player would move and creating functions that allowed to player to move using the arrow keys. Then i added another part of ...

Reflection For CSFair

Image
On Tuesday, April 2 we attended the Armory for the Cs Fair representing ITHS. Upon arriving to the armory we walked upstairs to our seats on the bleachers which was very far towards the end. Once settled ourselves down in we created groups and began to explore the fair. First stop was the tech garage. My group and I went down to the first floor and began at the first activity. During this activity we were given a battery and mini light bulbs and with these essential materials we were supposed to create something using them. I began taping two light bulbs on the battery then using the strings and tape I created a necklace of lights.  After spending around 15-20 minutes in the tech garage we decided to go back up stairs and after 2 min of convincing my group we decided to do the dance challenge. During the dance activity they gave us a set of code that we had to solve in order to do the correct dance moves. We started with basic 3 moves and they depended on what number we were standi...

Lab 17

Image
During lab 17 I had to design a false registration page where it would retrieve an user input and displays in when the button submit is clicked. This was doable using javascript. First, the text written inside the text box were stored in to 3 differed variables.  Then, after added CSS to the website to give it some color and uniqueness. This registration was to take 3 different types of information and repeat to you once you inserted all of them in a text box. " <input class="button" type="button" value="Enter" onclick=" window.alert('Your name is ' + document.forum.name.value + ' with a phone number of ' + document.forum.phone.value + ' and an email address of ' + document.forum.email.value + ', yurrr welcome to LAB 17 and thank you for registering!')">"  This code takes your input from earlier and repeats it in a sentence.T hese skills are important to web designers because javascript is very ...

Lab 16

Image
During Lab 16 we had to implement the same skills from our last lab, lab 15, to create a web page with our two other games from code.org which were the color sleuth and the clicker game. The point of the game Color Sleuth was to try and figure out a box with slight differently color and click on it. If you were able to guess it right, you will gain a point, but if you guess wrong, you will lose 3 points. There are two players and the first one to 10 wins! The next game was the Clicker Game and this game was based on clicking apples with a certain mark on it and if you got it right, you gained a point, and if you guess wrong, you lose a points. This game was much simpler to code and create.    These skills are super important for a web designer because they make a creating a website more simpler and easier. The use iframes you are able to  display sections of web pages inside a one single html document and allows you to click through it. This is ver...

Lab 15

Image
During Lab 15 we had to mainly about embed our  digital scene and clicker game that we made collaboratively earlier this month.  In order to embed these apps into Dreamweaver I needed to first aquire the iframe URLs from code.org. After receiving the iframe link I placed the apps using the <iframe> tag into my html document. Then after that I placed the URL that I received earlier to let iframe retrieve the information of the apps and display on my website. I put both of the apps side by side to show off each one. I added my heading using the <h> tag and divs to create the styles.      These skills are super important for a web designer because they make a creating a website more simpler and easier. The use iframes you are able to  display sections of web pages inside a one single html document and allows you to click through it. This is very useful because as a consumer having to click through many pages can lead to a bad ...

CTE Expo Reflection

Image
During the CTE expo I was able to intrigue a lot of freshman's by walking up to them first and bringing them over to show them my final project.  The objective of the expo was in order to show the incoming freshman's what the academy is all about and what we have been learning and experimenting with. To prepare for this expo I made sure my website and game was all ready and working. Also prepared a business casual outfit to look professional. I think what went really well was the fact that I was able to attract freshman's that were interested and answer all their questions they have. I also think what really went well was that I was able to be more confident since this was my second time in the expo, and because of this i was able to gather more than 1 freshman at a time and lead them to other classmates for a more smooth transition. For the next year expo what i can definitely improve is being able to transition the kids to my classmates more often to create a ...

" Minority and dissident communities face a perplexing challenge in countries with authoritarian governments. They need to remain anonymous to avoid persecution, but also must establish a trustworthy identity in their communications." Computer science and researchers traveled to three countries to help assess their challenges of maintaining a secure social media presence. They designed an app for android that would create a safeguard for the members for their anonymity and reliability of posts. The three countries were Mongolia, Zambia, and Turkey. These countries suffer from restricted speech, like Russia and China.  " The problem with anonymous communication is you don't know if it's credible," said Miriam Metzger.  This is where the app SecurePost comes into play because it allows the community to create secure groups on famous media, like Facebook, to maintain consistent presence on social media. The app allows total anonymity and flags any potential pos...

" A robot created by Washington State University scientists could help elderly people with dementia and other limitations live independently in their own homes." The Robot Activity Support System uses sensors to determine where the residents are, what they need and what they are doing. The robot navigates itself through the rooms and provides video instructions on how to do things and can also lead their owner to objects they need. The CASAS researchers have been developing smart technology to help elderly with memory or other impairments.  Once the smart home sensors detect a failure in a human activity or task the, RAS receives a message to help.  The RAS is programmed to take medication with food and water. water plants and get ready to walk the dog. The person can then control through a tablet interface what they wanted to see, or ask it to do a task. The tablet interface were easy to use. The group still wants to upgrade the RAS performance with older adults t...

" To address the shortage of workers, many companies are considering robots. However, reliably grasping a diverse range of products remains a Grand Challenge for robotics." The robot system used in e-commerce mainly have suction grippers which limit their range of objects they can grasp. The UC decided to create a ambidextrous solution to create varieties of gripper types. As the image above shows the robot being able to grab different things using both "arms". This allows the system to decide which gripper is better for the situation. They plan on creating a learning reward function using sensors and geometry of each gripper. Once tested the researchers concluded that reward functions for parallel-jaw gripper and suction cup arm on a robot cleared bins at a rate of 300 pick up per hour and 95% reliability. " When you are in a warehouse putting together packages for delivery, objects vary considerably," said Goldberg. "We need a variety of grippers ...

"Building on recent work programming computers to identify synthetic pathways leading to pharmaceutically complex molecules, researchers in Poland and South Korea have unveiled computerized methods to suggest only synthetic strategies that bypass patent-protected aspects of essential drugs." "When we started this project, I was somewhat skeptical that the machine would find any viable synthetic alternatives -- after all, these are blockbuster drugs worth gazillions of dollars, and I was sure that the respective companies had covered the patent space so densely that no loopholes remained," says senior author Bartosz Grzybowski, Developing the painstakingly increases purity and reduces the cost. The researchers decided to freeze each target molecule to allow the computer to approach on basis of mechanistic rule. In each run the program recommended the commercial synthesis.  "By algorithmically locating the key bonds on which patents hinge and propagating them ...

Scientist rely on an automatic processing technique that creates an algorithm to label data images pixel by pixel but the outputs of the algorithm aren’t accurate enough. The department of Energy’s Pacific Northwest National Lab decided to figure out if deep learning would give a more accurate answer using LIDAR data than the current one, and its show that the new model arrives much closer to the answers in a fraction of the time. “Lidar is a remote sensing instrument that emits a pulsed laser and collects the return signal scattered back by cloud droplets or aerosol” (DOE/Pacific Northwest National Laboratory). This data is very useful for global forecasting but the algorithm is overestimate the clouds boundaries and needs to be adjusted to accurately determine the clouds base and its layers. This new model learns through self-feedback. It’s able to compare its performance against hand-labeled results and fix itself accordingly. This deep learning model can now outperform ...

Why is Programming Important

Image
A program is a collection of instructions for a computer to execute a task. Programming is very useful and important because you can easily automate any task, interact with machines and computers, and to further create new intelligent machines. Being able to program is very beneficial because not only can you become a programmer or software engineer as a career but you can also take those skills you have learned and bring them to your current occupation. For example if you work at a desk job doing spreadsheets, you can learn to program it to automatically do it itself and will buy and the company more time and money because of this. Learning programming is important to me because it will soon help me do my work better, faster and be more efficient. Being able to achieve a successful code or program releases a great feeling of achievement and why its very important to the upcoming world. In the words of Steve Jobs he says " Everybody in this country should learn how to program a ...

MET Homework

Image
This was a very interesting day because I got out of my house this weekend and decided to culture myself with a tour around the MET museum. Once i walked in I decided to go into an area I wouldn't normally go to. While exploring I bumped into this statute and the name of the sculpture was the Eleven Headed Kannon The ten heads on top represent the ten stages of enlightenment and was made of wood with lacquer, gold leaf and metal decoration. This Bodhisattva was made between the fourteenth century. During my walk around the MET opened my eyes to a world of possibly with art because this time I was able to spend a full day and enjoy art and not be in a rush. Also during my visit I've got to learn new things and different cultures that i would never have thought to venture out to. This stood out to me because its something I wouldn't normally pick and look at but this experience was about learning new things and it really caught my eye, due to the fact that it has 11 heads ...

Lab 11

Image
During lab 11 we now took the favicon we created and added it to our website tab. In order to do so we created a duplicate of lab 9 and label it lab 11, so it can continue with the same layout of a page. After this we then coded into the <head> tag a link to our a favicon image so that it would appear on the top tab. If my favicon was larger than 17x17 I would have to specify the size of my favicon by adding an addition code in the link called size="28x28". Including a favicon into your website is very beneficial because it calls attention to it and people can remeber your website due to the icon. A Favicon is usually 17x17 or 28x28 small icon. Favicons are fairly useful because its easier to remember a picture than to read all websites names. Most popular websites all use them because it creates a fast visual search, which helps your target audience faster and simpler. To ensure the best looking website and efficient having a favicon allows you raise brand awarenes...

Lab 10

Image
During lab 10 we had to create a copy of lab 9 favicon for our website.  A favicon is a a small image that is paired up with a website and appears on the side of the tab. A. For lab 10 we had to create an External CSS by creating an external stylesheet. We opened up a new CSS document in DreamWeaver that allowed us only to code using CSS tags and styles. I pasted the same styles from lab 9 into the StyleSheet. With this we then started writing the styles of each element, so that way we can edit them in the stylesheet. External  CSS works differently than the inline styles and Internal CSS because both of these would be inside the  HTML Document either inline or using the style tag, but the External CSS is a stylesheet that gets linked in the <head> tag. Once you create a style in CSS there is a selector for the elements. For example you can select the body and edit it as a whole by writing in the Styles Body {}. This selects everything in the body and will style...

Lab 9

Image
During lab 9 we had to create a favicon for our website. A favicon is a a small image that is paired up with a website and appears on the side of the tab. We created our favicon through an pogram on code.org that allowed us to color in  the pixels of our favicon. After this we saved the image of our favcion and created a new HTML document. For lab 9 we had to create an internal css by creating a style tag in the head. With this we then started writing id's for certain divs, so that way we can edit them in the styles tag.  CSS works differently than the inline styles that you would normally use in HTML. Once you create a style in CSS there is a selector for the elements. For example you can select the body and edit it as a whole by writing in the Styles Body {}. This selects everything in the body and will style it. As well as selection ID's or Classes from the HTML code. CSS is very important for describing a presentation of a website by implementing colors, fonts and layou...
